I’m excited to be getting back into the swing of things. Thank you for your patience as I recharged for the year ahead.
As I mentioned in my last post, I had a number of major changes occur, some of which I’m happy to share. First, I started a new position at Microsoft as an Azure Infrastructure Specialist. While there’s definitely a lot of new information coming in at once, I couldn’t be happier with the team I work with and the welcoming and inclusive culture. I will hopefully have more to share over the coming months.
Second, I officially began my duties as a council member for CompTIA’s Advancing Tech Talent and Diversity Executive Council, which has been exciting. One of the things I’ve been lucky to do is help curate the Council’s content at the upcoming Communities and Council Forum on March 16 & 17 – we plan on highlighting how to recruit and keep high-performing, diverse talent.
And last, my personal resolution was to take far more “me” time in 2021. I’m incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful professional and promotional opportunities I had last year, but by the end of 2020, I was very tired and close to being burnt out. Having experienced burn-out before in my career, I know that it can wreak havoc on both your mental and physical health. So for 2021, I will carve out more time for myself, time with my family and interest, and not beat myself about saying “no” to things.
I’m incredibly happy and optimistic for the rest of 2021. Onward and upward.
