I am beyond thrilled and honored to announce that I’m the recipient of CompTIA’s Diversity in Technology Leadership Award for 2020, as part of their Spotlight Award series.
CompTIA has been a very crucial in my development as a technical professional; my first professional certification was the IT Fundamentals in 2017. Though an entry level certification, it set me a part as someone who is committed to career pathway in technology.
CompTIA has also given me a number of ways to meaningfully contribute to the tech industry. Recently, I have contributed to their “Culture Shift” podcast series, due to be released in August 2020. I also have been contributing to the development of resources for technology professionals seeking to advance their careers, keep skills relevant, and increase job security. This resource is tentatively titled “Guide to Emerging Tech.” Finally, I’ve had the pleasure of being appointed as an advisor for their Advancing Women in Technology Interest Group.
CompTIA describes the Diversity in Leadership Award criteria as follows:
“The Diversity in Technology Leadership award is earned by an individual who is an active leader in the technology industry as well as their personal network and community. This person is an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), serves as a role model for others and has a positive impact on the lives and careers of others. The candidate is change-maker, transforming lives and/or organizations through a sustained commitment to DEI values. Special consideration will be given to candidates in 2020 who have demonstrated leadership in their community or organization during the COVID-19 crisis or are impacting social change.“
Thank you, CompTIA for this wonderful honor.
